CJC-1295
CJC-1295 is a synthetic analog of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) consisting of 29 amino acids. It was developed by ConjuChem Biotechnologies and exists in two research forms: with and without Drug Affinity Complex (DAC). The DAC-modified version binds to albumin, dramatically extending its half-life. CJC-1295 is one of the most studied growth hormone secretagogues in preclinical research.
Research Overview
CJC-1295 was developed as a long-acting GHRH analog to overcome the extremely short half-life of endogenous GHRH (which is degraded within minutes by DPP-IV enzyme). Research published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism and Endocrinology has examined its pharmacokinetics and effects on the GH-IGF-1 axis in animal models. The DAC modification enables albumin binding, extending the half-life from minutes to days in pharmacokinetic studies. Studies have compared the pulsatile GH release pattern of the non-DAC version (which preserves more physiological GH release patterns) versus the sustained elevation seen with the DAC version. CJC-1295 without DAC (sometimes called Modified GRF 1-29) has become particularly popular in research due to its ability to stimulate GH release while maintaining pulsatile secretion patterns similar to endogenous GHRH.
